Meet Yohei: The Story Behind Japanguin š§
Updated: Aug 4
Helping travelers experience the real Japan through language, culture, and local connections.
Yo! Hey! I'm Yohei Takaba, the founder of Japanguin.
I've always believed that the best way to experience Japan isn't just by visiting famous landmarksāit's by connecting with local people, understanding the culture, and creating memories you could never find in a guidebook šÆšµ
Over the past several years, I've had the opportunity to live and work in different countries, teaching Japanese and sharing Japanese culture with people from all over the world. Along the way, I've met hundreds of students and travelers, and one thing became very clear:
Many visitors want more than sightseeing. They want to truly understand Japan.
That's why I created Japanguin.

Our mission is simple: to help people experience Japan through language, culture, and genuine local connections. Whether you're learning a few useful Japanese phrases before your trip, joining one of our local tours, or discovering hidden neighborhoods that most tourists never see, we want you to feel like you're exploring Japan with a friendānot just following a travel itinerary.
I believe that even learning a few words of Japanese can completely change your experience. A simple ćććććØććććć¾ćć ("Thank you") or ććé”ććć¾ćć ("Please") can lead to warmer smiles, meaningful conversations, and unforgettable memories.

Through this blog, I'll share practical travel tips, cultural insights, hidden gems, and stories from my experiences as a Japanese teacher and local guide. My hope is that these articles will help you experience a side of Japan that many travelers never get to see.
Thank you for visiting Japanguin. Whether you're planning your first trip to Japan or returning for another adventure, I'm excited to be part of your journey.
Welcome to Japanguin!š§
